Google Local Search Results

Google now showing local search results by default and often results are supported by a map of local area. I am looking the ways to optimize my site for local search and the map. Any idea would be highly appreciable. Thanks!

I believe that, the result depends on the location of the server where the website is hosted. You can get listed in the local search results using the Google Webmaster tools.

Submission in the local directories can also be helpful to get listed in local search results. You can search for local directories on Google to post your link there.

Yes, Google is making searches more local now. This is a part of improving the Algorithm so that the searchers on Google get the most relevant results Some of the people on the Internet do not like this change as they think that Google is making the results limited by localizing those results, however, most of the internet users do not agree to this.

When it comes to optimizing your website locally, make sure you have your website on the servers which have IP address of the country you are targeting. Submit links in local directories and take part in forums related to the niche of your website and which belong to the country you are targeting and add signatures with keywords you are targeting. Submit links in local Social Bookmarking websites which will certainly help. Also, you can add the name of the country you are targeting in the keywords which can also help you to optimize your site locally

Yes, you can add your listing via this url, once you fill your site details you will get two options to validate your listing. By phone or by a letter to your postal address. If you choose the phone you will receive a call from Google within a minute. Just enter the PIN code said by them infront of the listing and your listing will be verified.

I second nickgrnt on that as that's the correct method to get into the local search results for Google. Rest all methods will come after this step.

It's good to know that Google has launched this kind of service to improve the local listings in Google maps. Also, the verification process explained by nickgrnt is great as this will verify if the request for inclusion is genuine or not which is important.

Before they start with online marketing, I think such people should give their time on the field marketing. This would be helpful to them either.

ann, you can do geo-location by targeting a potential market.

Well, if you think that you do not have potential in the local market, you do not have it

The first thing you should understand in the field of marketing is the fact that you should have a positive attitude If you do not have it, you will never get success in marketing field

As far as I know, most of the businesses have potential in the local market and if you do not have it due to some reason of the location, you will have to search a market for your business as you definitely want it to grow

Are you aware about this- Google started showing local results on even non-local queries? Even though I focus on potential market I won't get desired results for the local search, if you're concentrating on single market you're losing other potential market.

Due to this reason, some of the webmasters do not like Google results now Some of the webmasters believe that there should be a different category to find local results and a different one for global results. This will effect the results and one would be able to find out the services or products according to the requirements they have

Due to the change in the algorithm, the techniques to optimize the websites have also changed which creates some problems for some of the website owners which are looking for business worldwide
