DDOS(Distributed Denial of Service) Attack

It is an attack on a network which is designed to bring it to a halt.DDOS attack is done by sending useless traffic to a specific service/port on a server. The amount of traffic sent would overload the service, so that legitimate traffic would be dropped or ignored.

There are very limited solutions on stopping the DDoS attacks. You also get professional anti-DDoS service specially to handle such attacks, however those services are highly expensive and the charges vary on the amount or the size of the DDoS Attacks. If you are using a Windows Dedicated Server then Cisco Hardware Firewall can filter DDoS upto 80 Mbps.

During DDoS attack it is important to first mitigate the effects and need to act promptly and meticulously to find the offending traffic, it’s also necessary to take proactive tests to diagnose and isolate the malicious traffic first rather than worrying about the legitimate traffic.
