Questions on moving from shared to reseller.

I currently have two domains hosted at micfo, one on server orlando and one on brisbane. both are linux, both "shared" hosting packages. Both of them are part my same micfo account, but are independently managed through their own cpanels.

i'm thinking of upgrading to reseller which would cost me more right now, but be cost-effective if I add a couple of more domains, and would allow me to manage everything cleanly through WHM/cpanel.

questions --

1) is the best strategy to upgrade one of my existing domains, and make it the master reseller domain, then import the other one to the reseller acount? or use an entirely new domain name for the master reseller, even if it's a "dummy" domain with no content, and import both my existing domains?

2) will this inevitably mean relocation of both my sites to a new server? or can orlando or brisbane play this role so at least one of the sites doesn't have to physically move (which I believe would increases the risk of problems). If not, which of micfo's servers are dedicated to reseller accounts so I can monitor their uptime for a bit? are there any major differences between the servers that do reseller and those that do shared linux? like for example php or mysql settings etc.?

3) anyone have experience doing an upgrade like this? can you comment on how well it went or what problems you encountered? how good was the technical help desk at making this happen? is the support one gets after converting to reseller at least as good as that for shared?

Micfo clients, thanks in advance for sharing your experiences. Comments from Micfo staff also welcome.

- Yes, we can simply upgrade the domain of your choice and then migrate the other domains and locate them under your reseller tree.

- We will not move both domains entirely to a new server. The domain of your choice will remain on the server and simply upgraded to a reseller package, the other domain will be migrated and hosted under your new reseller account (of course upon your request.)

- Perhaps others can answer this, but this is not a rocket science!

Let us know if you have any other question.

Sincerely,
Amir.

Thanks, Amir. This is very helpful information for me. I'd still welcome reaction from reseller customers.

Hi,
I would recommend you use option 1 it is the most simple and easiest option for you and MICFO.
As for the migration of the account which will be moved basically what happens in simple terms is the site is fully backed upped and moved over to the new server. Now as MICFO have root on each server they can simply login ssh and transfer the account and have it active on the new server within seconds/minutes depending on the size of the site and the location I.E. same data centre/network will be rapid, different data centre in a different country slightly slower but as this would be completed with root access over ssh connection by MICFO there will be very little chance that anything will go wrong but if it does your original site will still be on the original server.
Another thought would be for you to also have a full cpanel backup of the site to be moved just in case - 99.9% it will be fine but sometimes that 0.01% can happen it is only a machine after all

Regards
Jason
