Improved Servers

So Micfo did a little dirty work and moved a few sites around to increase reliability. Cool! This is just a shout-out to Micfo for doing a great job! Keep it up.

Wow! Ibiza has gone from a server load of 16-20 and in the red to 0.2 and (very) green. Way to go Micfo!

Say, what do those server load numbers mean, as compared to, say, percentage of available cpu cycles?

Thanks!

Hi Greg,

The load number you see is the number of processes that are waiting to be run by the CPUs (processors).

You can spark a good argument by asking everyone what they think is acceptable and/or would be good for shared server performance. Furthermore, the load number only measures CPU queue length, and your server performance is also greatly affected by things like disk usage and network latency/bandwidth. However, I think almost everyone would agree that loads of 16-20 that you were seeing would degrade performance and slow things down for pretty much everyone. I also think everyone would agree that 0.2 is excellent and very low.

If you want to know more about the load number, I found a pretty detailed site outlining it below:

www. teamquest.com/resources/gunther/ldavg1.shtml

Hope that helps!

Best wishes,
Steve

Greetings,

There will be few exciting announcements. One will be made on X'mas day, and the other two around January 15-20th.

Stay tuned :-)

So, did the Christmas day one happen? What was it?

I'm trolling through the forums before signing up, to find the good and bad of micfo, before I make my final decision to join.

Is ther going to be any advantage to me joining up before this big January announcement? I'd hate to join and miss out on something by a few days if it's for ne people, and conversely I'd hate to wait for the announcement, only to find it's only good for pre-existing customers.

Maybe new joiners can get some grace period for inclusion in whatever is happening?

Greetings,

Note that if in case an offer is being promoted, it will automatically reflect the current customers subscribed to that package at no additional cost (in terms of features, disk space, bandwidth).

Amir Golestan

Did anyone get the 2 announcements that were due to go out January 15-20? I know that the X'mas day one was delayed by about 2 to 3 weeks.

Finally the first announcement has been sent out. We hope you enjoy the announcement and free upgrade as much as we enjoyed it while making the decision.
