Protecting the hosting account from Trojans Attack

Hi,

I saw on Google that there are many hosting companies whose servers are attacked by Trojans. Is there any way of preventing my website from such attacks, if my site is hosted on shared hosting plan?

Your site may be affected by Trojans due to some reasons. These reasons are given below with the solutions :

1) Sometimes, your domain folder have write permissions to web users. These permissions can cause problems and hence you should Remove write/modify permissions for web users

2) Sometimes, your website code may have external links which are placed for advertmisement purpose which can allows trojans to enter into the site To avoid this problem, you should remove External links from code.

3) If you have external banners on images on your site for advertisement purpose which have links to another sites, a hacker can hack your site and trojans may enter into your site You should make sure that you remove External links from those banners and images.

These are some steps which can cause trojans to enter in your site and hence you should make sure that you take the necessary precautions to avoid trojans and other problems on your site

Thank you very much, Garry! Do I just need to change the permissions for public_html folder? Or shall I change it for all the folders that I can see under File Manager?

You are most welcome

Serena, as you have mentioned public_html, you have Linux hosting platform and you should remove write permissions from all the files and folders under public_html folder.

Please make sure that you do not remove read permissions from all the files and folders under public_html folder.

Feel free to contact our Linux technical support department if you face any problems while changing the permissions

If a user has Windows hosting platform then he/she should remove write permissions from all the files and folders under http_docs folder.

Make sure that you do not remove read permissions from all the files and folders under http_docs folder.

If users with Windows hosting platform need any assistance, they can contact our Windows technical support department
