I'm sorry if my statement mislead you. Micfo falsly sold good support, which they didn't deliver. And they gave me false hope. I fortunattely know a lot about hosting, and have been hosting for many many years. Unfortunattely your support, and expertise doesn't match up with the cheape prices you advertise.
There's a saying, something like, "you get what you pay for", and this is very very true for micfo. Just as matter of interest, why does micfo delete posts on the forum which shows that micfo makes mistake? Ever wonder why they only display the "good" posts, where people praise them, but delete the ones with complaints and problems? |

Regarding their forum, its their forum, and if they decide to remove posts, no one can really stop them from doing that. I have personally never seen them remove threads, other than those that come from some people advertising other services. |

Micfo don't generally delete threads, but if they're a complaint that can be cleared up or a support request/investigation (which generally needs information providing) then they do move them in to the 'customers only' section so that they're not available to the general masses of the Internet.
They do remove posts from Testimonials forum, but that's only to be expected. Instead of having a static HTML page, Micfo have a forum so that users can post directly. How many hosts do you see that have a testimonials page that has a testimonial saying "they were ok, but they could do better and their response times were fairly poor"? If you know about hosting, you'd know that doing that wouldn't make business sense

Hi,
I just tried dreamhost com which is quite nice : - Support Ruby on Rails, - 500Go of disk space, - 5To of bandwith, - ... for $5.95/month and I got a discount of $47 off for my 1 year registration with the promo code [removed]. Best regards and happy new year, teum Last edited by drachma; 01-07-2008 at 07:43 PM. Reason: Removed advertising link. Also please refrain from bumping very old threads. |

Success with Ruby on Rails?
Has anyone successfully set up a Ruby on Rails application on their hosting account?
If so, please share here because I'm struggling to get past the setup stage. I've created an application using: rails appname and can view the ruby start-up page at http://mydomain.com/appname/public/ but I can't do anything else after that. Thanks in advance. Russ |

Here's a quick Howto on setting up Ruby on Rails for Windows.
1. Go to RubyForge and download the latest version of the Ruby one-click Installer for Windows. Install it by running the setup program. I recommend installing it to c:\ruby 2. Download and install RubyGems. 3. When Ruby and RubyGems have both been set up, run this in a terminal/command prompt window to install Ruby on Rails and all its dependencies: gem install rails --include-dependencies 4. Create a folder to hold your rails Apps. I use c:\rails. 5. Create a test application by issuing this command in a terminal/command prompt: rails testApp 6. You should then see a folder called testApp in c:\rails. Go into the testApp folder in a terminal/command prompt and type this: ruby script/server 7. Open your browser and go to cPanel. 8. Congratulations, you're on Rails! If this all seems like too much for you, you can also use InstantRails, which has Ruby, Rails, Apache, and MySQL all in one package. ---------------------------------------------- RapidSSL Wildcard SSL Certificate Thawte SSL123 Last edited by GhostRider2110; 02-05-2010 at 04:33 AM. Ruby reminds me on the forecast of gartner, that till 2010 there will be 40% less employment in information technology. The forecast bases on the fact, that productivity in IT increases dramatically. Ruby demonstrates another highly productive environment. It is not neccessary to learn anything, neither design pattern nor programming languages. For Doug Fales who is very experienced in Java, Ruby is a nice trip. But I would not begin with it.
