Affiliate Programs

In my history of managing online properties, I can say that I've tried and used over 40 various affiliate programs. Some with big success, some with even greater failure.

With thousands of affiliate systems out there (including commission based services, banner networks, pay-per-click programs, etc), which ones do you use and are you satisfied with the experience?

For me the most "profitable" source was Commission Junction (www.cj.com), the most horrible - some third-rated PPC engine/ half banner network that cheated results and paid almost nothing.

Best,

if you can find any products suitable to promote on your website, you really don't need to look any further than amazon's affiliate program. 7.5% commision for a direct link to a product, and 5% if the user browses amazon themselves to find what they want.

i have also just started using google adsense. this is fairly profitable, probably more so than amazon for me, at least during winter/spring. with amazon i only really make good money in the summer/autumn as this is when the computer game my website is about comes out every year.

I tried a few dozen affiliate programs including CJ. Didn't got any money or so.

Google AdSense is a really great program imho. I've got a CTR of about 0.8% which is really high in the category my website is based on.

Oh yes, how could I ever forget about AdSense! This was one of the most outside profitable sources for toumanov media. At times, the click through rate went up to as high as 37%.

Adsense is great, it really shows you how much google must be making off of their search engine.

http://www.google.com/adsense/

Show Google (text) ads on your sites, get paid when users click on them.

Yes, try searching for AdSense on http://www.freewebspace.net/forums/ and http://www.webhostingtalk.com/ and you will find some discussions about it. If you have a very busy site, it can generate quite a fair amount of income for you.

I've had great experience with Adsense and would recommend it to must people. One of the cons though is you need to generate $100 in clicks to get a check, so it doesn't work very well for small sites. I started in January and have gotten a check every time. So its been great for me. For an example of the custom adsense ad (which is making a lot of money) go to this site (not yet hosted on micfo) http://reedfloren.com/

Well I don't know if I'll have much traffic. I can hope for it though. And if I do, this will get me some money to support the site, hopefully.

Thanks again.

My sites don't generate much traffic also. One used to but I stopped working on it quite a while ago. I might start working on it once again and see if I can earn some more clicks.

The ads on his site? You can modify all sorts of things like the colors, size, type, etc.

You can have just about any color combination but I wanted to experiment with annoyance... so far none of my members have complained.
