SSL Cert problems

Hi

Am I right in thinking that if I purchase an SSL Certificate, I shouldn't get any warnings when I navigate to an https page?

I have purchased a cert for https://www.chicpetiteshoes.co.uk/ but when I got to the site (especially using Firefox or Opera browsers) I get a warning as follows:
Quote:
Website Certified by an Unknown Authority.
Unable to verify the identity of www.chicpetiteshoes.co.uk as a trused site.
Possible reasons for this error:
- Your browser does not recognise the Certificate Authority that issued the site's certificate.
- The site's certificate is incomplete due to a server misconfiguration.
- You are connected to a site pretending to be www.chicpetiteshoes.co.uk, possibly to obtain your confidential information.

Please notifty the site's administration about this problem.
The main reason for purchasing the SSL Certificate was to NOT getting any warnings or error messages!

I am positve I didn't get this warning in the first year of the certs existance, but since it was renewed recently I get the message. I'm fairly sure it's a problem relating to Micfo server configuration - can anyone confirm this for me?

Thanks in advance
Simon

Firefox gives me a "partially encrypted" padlock icon. Having done a little HTTPS work before, that normally means you've got one or more HTTP hosted images on the page. The certificate itself verifies at the moment for me.

Though there are a large number of entities selling secure certificates, there are primarily 6 major SSL certificate providers. Whoever you purchase your SSL certificate from will most likely be either one of these 6 or a reseller for one of them. All 6 have 128 bit key encryption.

The primary SSL certificate providers are:

Verisign
Thawte
InstantSSL
Entrust
Baltimore
Geotrust

The detail below is an overview of each of these providers.

Verisign seems top provider however I would prefer buying SSL certificate from my host.

I have had really good luck with Godaddy SSL's. The interface is easy to use and support seems to be good the few times I have needed anything. They also have lots of choices. --Mitch
