Hi Joe,

Tried a few of the links - is it just forum links, or is there something else to see?

The forum stuff comes up with the fonts about 3x the size of the main page, which is disconcerting. It'd be better if they were the same size.

Not sure I can make much moer comment, as otherwise everything is the same from the half dozen links I tried

Well thx Russell.

I assume your using FIREFOX? Otherwise in IE, the fint stays the same. The main page you saw is 1 gateway page. It is dynamic based on what is in the forum. Om the bottom I have a static resource page, and basic stuff. If you click a logo, it wil go to a software specific gateway with more static forum links and some dynamic. I am trying not to just have a forum at my domain. I want some SE friendly pages. make sense?

My attention is really drawn to the right side of the page, which I guess seems good because that's where the job postings are. It's odd to have the attention to the right though, as opposed to the center of the page. Ya know?
I'm not an expert, though, so...take that with a grain of salt.

Yeah I am using firefox mainly, which is a pain as lots works in it, that doesn't work in IE, and vice versa, and I'm trying to write my site for both.

Yeah what Bill said, the google adsense popped up first, and I though 'wow, big column', then the jobs popped in, and it made sense, then the links popped in, and it looked OK.

It is different being on the right, but I think different works OK in this case.

interesting.. my thoughts are you read left to right, and well I want the main reason to appear on the left, and the extras like advertising, which supports the site to be the last thing they see on the right. As for its size, I am trying something new to test the results on the return. So far, its better then the old thin vertical strip. Try looking at a page like this... http://peoplesoft.erpcommunity.com

How is that?

Umm, I can't remember the other site now - please don't hit me for saying this, but, is there a difference??

Sorry, maybe it's just that your site reminds me too much of work

Hi Joe, sorry to bring this thread out from the dead, but I have a question.

I really like your ERPCommunity.com web site (quite a niche!), and I am curious as to whether it is custom coded? I like the community front page: http://www.erpcommunity.com/forums.php - how have you achieved threads to be posted like that and for tab menu to swich sections the way it does?

Thank you.

Yes. It is custom coded, and a blend of open source scripts. I am actually looking to redo that site and add some AJAX, like I have on some newer ones.

If your interested, send me a PM, and I will share some coding ideas.

Thanks for the feedback.

I understand little when it comes to code, but I am impressed that you are so up to date in the enterprise res. dev field. I am also a little jealous of people with skill to code and create apps like you do.

Anyone can code.. just pick up a book and follow it or google it. the hard part is developing from scratch.

I wish I had that much time on my hands. My coding experience comes down to just hiring someone to do the job.
