BackUp Costs

I remember a while back there being an email (like a year ago) stating for clients to not do regular backups of our sites because Micfo does regular backups, so if there are any problems they will have a backup and be able to restore it for you. This was great to hear and I took that advice and began to do less frequent backups. That was until I found out that you are going to charge us a lot to restore it. Now, with some of the bigger sites (I dont know if my falls into this category), I am sure people doing backups puts a considerable load on the servers. However, I refuse NOT to do backups now that I find out it will cost me money for you to restore my files. Personally this is something that I feel is a mistake by Micfo. I was curious why this cost was implemented and wouldn't mind hearing what others feel about this.

Thanks

I didn't realize that Micfo now charges for this... where can I find this information? It certainly wasn't sent to me, and I may have missed it, but I don't see any postings about this.

EDIT: NM I found it.. very disappointing so say the least. Most hosting companys offer this as part of the service.

That's really funny....

I have domains on four other hosting companies and none of them charge for backups. In fact, each hosting company I use also run a second backup creating a tar file in my root directory that I can download providing me a second level of insurance.

Does Micfo do that?

I backup my own sites as it has happened that backups were lost (or not done when servers were under stress previously).

Also whose fault it is is open to interpretation, and I'd rather re-load my own backup rather than go into an endless argument with support about whose fault it was.

For dynamic sites, saving your databases using cpanel is quick and easy.

This is the most accepted answer everyone should use.
Some hosts do charge a fee to restore a site and there can be problems if the site the hosting company has file is older than you think.

Doing a FULL backup will grab everything including your DB.
Restoring a site is never fun.
